Carolyn Ann Hatcher Hickman was the third eldest child born to Charlie and Lula Hatcher on September 16, 1951. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Shiloh Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until her health declined.
Carolyn was educated in the Selma City School System. Carolyn married her high school sweetheart, Phillip Hickman, Sr. in 1973. She leaves a legacy of joy to her children: Phillip Jr. (Natasha) Hickman of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Jeannetta Hickman of Selma, Alabama and Lakaye Bolding of Selma, Alabama; seven special grandchildren: Jamia, Xavier of Lawrenceville, GA, Delrion, Kerron, Braylen, London and Raelyn of Selma, Alabama; mother: Mrs. Lula B. Hatcher; three sisters: Ms. Deborah K. Hatcher, Velma Tolbert and Rosemary Cook; six brothers: Alphonso (Yvonne) Hatcher, Samuel Hatcher, Charles Hatcher, Jr., Floyd (Brenda) Hatcher, Dwayne Hatcher all of Selma, and Lawrence (Sheila) Hatcher of Riverdale, Georgia; stepson: Myerick Cook; one brother-in-law: David Hickman; uncle: Jerri Murry; a special friend: Mrs. Cora Carter of New York; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her devoted husband: Phillip Hickman, Sr.; father: Charlie Hatcher; grandmother: Mrs. Lannie Travis; great grandmother: Ms. Matilda Murry; aunt: Ernestine Franklin; uncles: Roosevelt Moore, Will Travis and Earl Travis; great aunts: Mattie Martin, Catherine Murry, and Emma Acoff.
Homegoing celebration will take place Saturday, May 6, 2023 12 Noon at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will immediately follow in Serenity Memorial Gardens. The staff and management at Ashley's JH Williams extends our heartfelt condolences and prayers to the entire Hickman and Hatcher families.
