The caring and compassionate staff at Ashley's JH Williams & Sons Funeral Home extends our heartfelt & deepest sympathy to the entire White and Benjamin families.
Charles Truman White was born to Ledger and Carrie White on July 25, 1948. He
accepted Christ at a very early age and later joined Christian Grace Apostolic
Church in his adulthood so many years ago where he served under Pastor James
Marshall as “Elder White.” Charles is preceded in transition by his beautiful loving
wife, Rose. He “found” Rose Benjamin in the 1960s and married her in 1969. They
celebrated 45 years of marriage as Charles and Rose Lee White.
Elder White was full of love and life. He was a God-fearing family man, through
and through. He was a community “dad” who never met a stranger. He was an
official historian. If there was a building, event or person to share story time
about, he knew it and he did. He was laughter. He had a saying for just about
everything. And, if you found yourself in church with him talking to you and you
didn’t talk back, he famously proclaimed and will forever be remembered by
responding to capture your attention with: HELLO LIGHTS! Then, at offering time,
he would simply quote: Will a man rob God?
Charles departed this life early Thursday morning, December 3, 2020 in the
presence of his children. He is also preceded in death by his parents, his daughter,
Dannie Jean Rivers, and sisters, Mary Walker and Alice White Fair. He leaves to
celebrate his memory: 6 children—Angela Benjamin, Undra White, Charlene
