Florence M. Johnson

Mrs. Florence (Plum) Mae Johnson born March 21, 1937, to Mary F. Dysart. Upon the confession of her faith, she became a member of the New Morning Missionary Baptist Church. It was under the leadership of Pastor Leshore. In 1955 she was united in holy matrimony to the late Peter Johnson. They later had little Sarah Johnson who only lived for a short period of time. 

As years moved on, Florence relocated to Boston, Massachusetts and lived there for a long period of time. After retiring from Bank of Boston, she moved to Jonesboro, Georgia for many years. As her faith was strong in the Lord, she joined New Macedonia Baptist Church under Rev. Gary T. Anderson. Her health slowly began to fail. Family members gave their time to help. Later the decision was made to move her to a healthcare facility where she was a resident for a number of years. As time went on, she wanted to move closer to home. In 2021, she became a resident of Perry County Nursing Home now known as Diversi Care in Marion, Alabama. During her residence there, her favorite words shared by staff and other residents was, “Blessed, and highly favored!” She said it so much they started calling her Mrs. Blessed and Highly Favored. Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025, 11 AM at New Morning Star Baptist Church in Marion Junction. Interment will immediately follow in the churchyard cemetery. Mrs. Johnson will lie in state at New Morning Star from 10-11.
