Julius Craig Cooper was born to the late George and Elvira Cooper on April 14, 1964, in Selma, Ala. He devoted his life to Christ at an early age at Selmont Baptist Church. As he got older, he transferred his membership to Sandridge Baptist Church then later House of Prayer. Julius transitioned to be with the Lord, Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Grady Memorial Hospital while surrounded by family.
Julius attended Southside High school where he is a graduate of the class of 1981. Growing up in Selma, Julius was a well-known mechanic. He first began in the back yard then later worked at George’s Garage with his late father and older brother. Julius was a friend to everyone, he never met a stranger and made everyone feel welcome in his presence.
Preceding him in death are his late parents, George and Elvira Cooper, and two nephews: Anthony Fuller and Tobias Cooper.
Julius leaves to cherish his precious memories to his daughter: Calizza (Jerel) Sample. Two grandkids: Jerel and Ja’Kai Sample. Two brothers; George (Rosie) Cooper Jr. and June Cooper. Four sisters; Cora Haywood, Bobbie Cooper, JoAnne (Micheal) Rowe, and Mary (Alvin) Shaw. Two aunts: Clara Moorer and Minnie Cooper. Three uncles: Joe (Pat) Cooper, Roy Cooper, and Sherman Cooper. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 11:00 AM at House of Prayer. Interment will immediately follow at Sandridge Cemetery. The professional staff and management at Ashley's JH Williams extend our heartfelt condolences and prayers to the entire Cooper family.
